Following on from the success of the Blacon Short Story & Poetry Competition work began on the launch of the Ellesmere Port one.   Five schools in Ellesmere Port took up the challenge, Sutton Green, Rivacre Valley, Wolverham, The Oaks and Cambridge Road Primary Schools.  As part of the recruitment drive members of the Recruitment Team attending staff meetings and held Information Events in the schools for parents and staff to find out more about fostering and adoption.  Members of the Recruitment Team also went into school assemblies to speak to the children about fostering and adoption.   A massive 364 entries into the competition were received.

The judging Panel consisted of 2 local Councillors, a representative from Ellesmere Port Library and a foster carer.

A celebration event was held at the Whitby Sports and Social Club.  Devan Bailey, player for Cheshire Phoenix Basketball Team, came along to present the prizes to our winners.  Devan’s parents are Foster Carers so he is aware of how important it is for people to come forward to become foster carers or adopters.
