Big thank you to foster carers

Some of our Children in Care Council members would like to say a big thank you to our foster carers during Foster Care Fortnight.

Here is what some of them had to say about their foster carers:

Natalie (aged 17) said: I appreciate all the care I have been given and I never thought my foster carer would end up being so much like a mum to me.  My placement provides me with privacy from my parents and gives me opportunities I would never have had at home. I am more confident than ever, my foster carer has helped me gain more control over my life and improved my living skills. When I first went into care I didn’t see myself in the future, now I’m living my life better than ever.

Hayley (aged 18) said: I always feel important and I am treated just like I’m her own. I have had the same upbringing any other kid would have.

Jessica (aged 16) said: Being in care is like being with a normal family, we go on good days out and visit new places.

Anna (aged 15) said: It’s changed me completely and I’ve realised that I am a better person being with my foster carers. They’ve been so good to me and treated me so well and I think I’m extremely lucky. Without them I don’t think I’d be achieving what I am today.
