Foster Care Fortnight

Every 20 minutes across the UK a child comes into care in need of a foster family. That’s 1,008 children in a fortnight.

During this year’s Foster Care Fortnight, 16-29 May, we will be highlighting the need for more foster carers in the West Cheshire area.
We already have an amazing group of foster carers who provide some of our most vulnerable children with homes across the borough. Some provide short-term care for just a few months, weeks or even days. While others provide longer term placements where children stay with them for a number of years or until they can live independently.

Our foster carers are already changing lives for the better, but we need even more people to open up their homes to look after the wide range of children that come in to our care every year.

The Fostering Network, who organise the annual Foster Care Fortnight campaign, estimates that 1,300 new fostering families will be needed across the North West during 2016.

People from various backgrounds become foster carers. You don’t necessarily need experience, just a willingness to learn and a spare bedroom in your home.

We provide full training during the application process including information about the different foster placements that children need. The excellent support continues once you become a foster carer and we offer all foster carers a competitive financial package.

If you have been thinking about fostering, or feel you could provide a home for a child in need, please get in contact now and find out how you can help. Now’s the time to foster, now’s the time to care.
