British Association for Adoption and Fostering (BAAF) BAAF works with everyone involved with fostering and adoption across the UK. Their activities include:

  • Family finding via their monthly newsletter
  • Running the Adoption Register
  • Producing publications
  • Training, conferences and consultancy
  • Campaigning
  • Advice
  • Independent Reviewing Mechanism (IRM).

The Adoption Register for England and Wales is operated by BAAF on behalf of the Department of Children, Schools and Families and the National Assembly for Wales. The Register has a database of details of children awaiting adoption and details of approved adopters. Adoption Matters Northwest Adoption Matters is a specialist voluntary adoption agency. Adults Affected by Adoption (AAA-NORCAP) This is a national organisation focussed on supporting adults affected by adoption. Its services are available to adopted adults, birth relatives and adoptive family members. Tel: 01865 875000

Natural Parents’ Network(NPN) Natural Parents Network is a self help organisation for ‘parents and relatives who have lost children to adoption’. Family Rights Group The Family Rights Group supports children and families involved with social services by advising families and working with service users, practitioners, researchers and policy makers.
